We operate with steam and diesel locomotives at the Doon Valley Railway. Our mainstay of passenger operations is NCB No.10 and this is supported by our two operational diesel locos, Powfoot No.1 and the Sentinel.
We also have our unique operational Fireless steam locomotive, which we demonstrate several times throughout the year.
Built by Andrew Barclay, Sons & Co. in 1947 with works number 2244/1947. No.10 worked it's whole NCB career on the NCB system in the Doon Valley.
Built by Andrew Barclay, Sons & Co. works number 347/1941. Built as part of a War Department contract during WW2, No.1 worked within munitions factories and spent most of it's time at Powfoot, near Annan.
NCB opencast executive Sentinel works number 10012 of 1959. This was the only diesel loco to work on the NCB system at Dunaskin.
Shell refining Co. number 8 built by Andrew Barclay, Sons & Co. in 1928, works number 1952. This is the only operational fireless steam locomotive in the UK!
